Proclaim God’s help day by´ day,

Silent Reflection

24   And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.

26    Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
27 So God created humankind in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” 29 God said, “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. Lord, you are the way the truth and the life. In you we discover that the truth is a person.  May our friendship with you teach us to love one another, not merely in word or speech, but in truth and action.
Lord God, on this sixth day of the week we offer our glad praise and thanksgiving for the gifts of all creatures.  On this day you created humans and declared us “very good.”  As we encounter other people on this day, remind us of the joy with which you ended your work in creating creatures imago dei.  May we daily grow to live more and more fully into your image and to conform our thoughts and our words and our actions to the mind of our Lord, Jesus.
Morning by morning new mercies we see, Lord.  Your blessings are as numerous as the sand.  We give thanks at this hour for another day in which we can love others as you love them and immerse in the life you offer us.
Preserve us this day from the sin of wrath — set a guard at the door of our lips, that we might never say anything flippant, or wounding, discouraging, or unkind.  Save us in the hour when we are disposed to intemperance, and cool the fire of wrath which seeks to rise up within.    Encourage us, Lord, as we seek to be ambassadors of your reconciliation.  May the well of forgiveness pour forth abundantly in our lives.  
We are mindful of your call to be not only ambassadors of reconciliation, but also people who practice the virtue of justice.  May we, today, give to everyone we encounter what we owe them — understanding that we owe no one anything, except that we love them as you do.  Today as we continue in the faith-filled journey of discipleship, may we be prepared to share the blessings of our journey with others.
